The American Friends Service Committee brought me on to handle video production for their Justice conference — panel recordings, promotional video ads, b-roll, and conference graphics.
Conference video is its own animal. You’ve got panels with multiple speakers, varying room acoustics, and no second takes. The key is having the setup dialed in before anyone starts talking so you can focus on capturing the content rather than troubleshooting. I shot on Blackmagic with enough coverage to cut between speakers and audience reactions without it feeling like a surveillance feed.
The promo ads were a different challenge entirely — taking the substance of a multi-day conference and distilling it into something that makes people want to show up next year. I also produced supporting graphics and logo assets so the visual identity carried through from the promos to the event signage to the final video package.
