WVCAEF hired me for video production and consulting around environmental advocacy work in the Kanawha Valley. The two main pieces were coverage of the ARCH2 Rally — a canvassing and advocacy event at WVSU focused on environmental justice — and the Groundwork Project’s Kanawha Air Monitoring Pilot, a community-driven effort to document air quality issues.
The rally footage was about capturing advocacy in action — organizers making their case, community members showing up, the energy of people pushing for change. The air monitoring project was more documentary in nature, documenting the pilot program and the coalition work behind it through the CAG Climate Committee.
Environmental advocacy video sits at an interesting intersection — it needs to be compelling enough to drive engagement but grounded enough to hold up to scrutiny. The footage has to tell a real story, not just sell a narrative.
